These Terms of Sale govern the purchase of products from Family Tree Books Ltd through https://www.familytreebooks.co.uk ("the Website").

By placing an order with us, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms of Sale.

2. Our Products

Family Tree Books sells children's picture books for delivery within the United Kingdom.

We make every reasonable effort to ensure that product descriptions, images and pricing are accurate.

However:

  • colours may vary slightly depending on your screen or device;

  • book covers may occasionally differ following a publisher update or reprint;

  • product images are provided for illustrative purposes.

If we discover a significant error in a product listing after you have placed an order, we will contact you before processing your order.

3. Who Can Purchase from Us

By placing an order you confirm that:

  • you are at least 18 years old; or

  • you have the permission of a parent or legal guardian to make the purchase.

Orders may only be placed for delivery to addresses within the United Kingdom.

4. Placing an Order

When you place an order through our Website you are making an offer to purchase the products selected.

After submitting your order you will receive an email acknowledging receipt of your order.

This acknowledgement does not mean that your order has been accepted.

A contract between you and Family Tree Books Ltd is formed only when we dispatch your order and send you a dispatch confirmation email.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order where:

  • payment cannot be authorised;

  • a product is unavailable;

  • pricing or product information is incorrect;

  • we reasonably suspect fraudulent or unlawful activity;

  • we are unable to fulfil the order for any other legitimate reason.

If payment has already been taken for an order that cannot be fulfilled, we will issue a full refund as soon as reasonably practicable.

5. Availability

All products are offered subject to availability.

Occasionally, stock may become unavailable after an order has been placed.

Where this happens, we will contact you promptly to offer:

  • a full refund;

  • an alternative product (where available); or

  • the option to wait for additional stock, if applicable.

6. Pricing

All prices displayed on our Website are shown in pounds sterling (£).

We take reasonable care to ensure prices are correct.

If we discover a pricing error before dispatch, we will contact you and give you the opportunity to:

  • proceed at the correct price; or

  • cancel your order and receive a full refund.

We reserve the right to change prices at any time, although changes will not affect orders already accepted.

7. Delivery Charges

Delivery charges are calculated separately and are displayed during checkout before you complete your purchase.

Delivery charges vary according to:

  • the Royal Mail service selected;

  • the total weight of your order.

At the time of publication, delivery charges typically range from £2.75 for a single book to £6.95 for orders of up to ten books.

Delivery charges may change from time to time to reflect Royal Mail pricing.

8. Maximum Order Quantity

Our Website currently accepts orders of up to ten books in a single transaction.

If you wish to place a larger order, please contact us at hello@familytreebooks.co.uk, and we will be happy to discuss your requirements.

9. Payment

Payment must be made in full before your order is dispatched.

Payments are securely processed by our authorised payment providers, including:

  • Squarespace Payments; and

  • PayPal.

Family Tree Books Ltd does not store your full payment card details.

10. Dispatch

We aim to dispatch orders within 2–3 working days of receiving payment.

Working days are Monday to Friday and exclude public holidays in England and Wales.

Dispatch times are estimates and may occasionally be affected by circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

11. Delivery

Orders are delivered using Royal Mail.

Estimated delivery times are provided as guidance only and begin once your order has been dispatched.

While we will always make reasonable efforts to dispatch your order promptly, we cannot guarantee delivery dates and are not responsible for delays caused by Royal Mail or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Your statutory rights are not affected.

12. Risk and Ownership

Responsibility for the goods passes to you once your order has been delivered to the delivery address you provided.

Ownership of the goods transfers to you only after:

  • full payment has been received; and

  • the goods have been delivered.

13. Your Right to Cancel

If you are purchasing as a consumer, you have legal rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

In most cases, you may cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your goods without giving a reason.

To exercise your right to cancel, you must notify us by emailing hello@familytreebooks.co.uk before the cancellation period expires.

14. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Goods

If your order:

  • arrives damaged;

  • is faulty; or

  • contains incorrect items,

please contact us as soon as reasonably possible at hello@familytreebooks.co.uk.

Where appropriate, we will offer:

  • a replacement;

  • an exchange; or

  • a full refund,

in accordance with your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

We will reimburse reasonable return postage costs where goods are faulty, damaged or supplied in error.

15. Our Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

This includes liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by negligence;

  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;

  • any rights that cannot legally be excluded under UK consumer law.

Subject to the above, our liability shall be limited to the purchase price paid for the relevant order.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses that could not reasonably have been foreseen at the time the contract was formed.

16. Events Beyond Our Control

We shall not be responsible for delays or failure to perform our obligations where such delay or failure results from events beyond our reasonable control.

These may include, but are not limited to:

  • severe weather;

  • industrial disputes;

  • postal disruption;

  • transport failures;

  • supplier shortages;

  • government restrictions;

  • technical failures.

Where possible, we will keep customers informed of any significant delays.

17. Complaints

If you are unhappy with any aspect of our products or service, we encourage you to contact us so that we have the opportunity to resolve the issue promptly.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Sale from time to time.

Any changes will apply only to orders placed after the updated version has been published on our Website.

19. Governing Law

These Terms of Sale are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where applicable consumer protection law provides otherwise.
